In Aurora, there's never a dull moment. While the overall vibe is laid back and friendly, this active city has over 8,000 acres of open outdoor space where you can walk, hike, jog, bike, picnic, and much more. The area is also home to a diverse and vibrant arts and culture district, where locals can head indoors and take advantage of shows put on by the Aurora Symphony Orchestra or check out one of the city’s many popular galleries and museums.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Shopping in Aurora is a unique experience compared to other cities, and Stanley Marketplace is proof of just how eccentric and fun it can be. The market is located in an open-space warehouse and is home to over 50 independent vendors. From specialty retailers to tasty eateries and even a stellar host for the occasional event, the market is a great place to spend your free time.
After you've enjoyed some rays on a sunny day, head over to Dry Dock Brewing Company for a cold pint. This longtime local favorite focuses on craft beer and was the very first brewery to open in Aurora. With blonde ales and fruitful flavors, you'll find a new drink of choice each time you visit. Don't miss out on Dry Dock-hosted events such as trivia or bingo night.
For flavorful dining, head over to Seoul K-B.B.Q & HotPot. The Korean-style restaurant brings you marinated meats with delicious banchan. Everything is prepared to grill at your table, ensuring your meal is freshly cooked to your liking. Thinking of trying a broth-based meal instead? Order hotpot and choose from eight different broth bases, along with all-you-can-eat meat selections. Don't forget to order soju or makgeolli to wash it all down.
Things to Do
Colorado is known for its scenic views and outdoor lifestyle, which is why it’s no surprise that Aurora has over 100 parks to explore. For a little outdoor fun, visit the natural prairie and wetlands of Cherry Creek State Park. The park neighbors an 880-acre reservoir where you can take a dip, kayak, paddleboard, and much more.
With so much gorgeous land in the area, you can take advantage of your equestrian dreams at 12 Miles Stable. The horseback riding service offers boarding, lessons, day camps, and above-average riding fun. It's a great place for beginners with easily accessible trails and offers stunning scenic views during sunset.
Recreational parks aren't the only type of parks in Aurora, and history plays a major role in setting the scene for the city's growth. For a fun-filled educational day, check out the Fox Art Center or the Colorado Freedom Memorial. The memorial is constructed of glass panels that reflect the surrounding mountains, and each panel is home to the names of over 6,000 Coloradans that have given their lives to serve in various wars. This memorial is the first in America to reflect and honor the lives of soldiers from every war.
