Welcome to Boulder

Breweries, healthy lifestyles, and beautiful surroundings

Situated at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder is a diverse city with something for everyone. Restaurants serving hearty meals and some of the best breweries in the nation are just as common as juice bars, health restaurants, and other eateries catering to all diets and lifestyles. Boulder is home to some of Colorado’s best schools, a lively economy, beautiful scenery, and an energetic downtown protected by a dense canopy of towering evergreens.

The settlement of Boulder was kicked off with the discovery of gold. Previously an otherwise-undesirable area, the community grew rapidly in the 1850s and became the seat of Boulder County in 1867. Today, Boulder is a robust town that has frequently been named among the happiest and healthiest cities in the nation. A great climate, unparalleled scenery, and a plethora of opportunities for outdoor recreation have propelled Boulder to the forefront of America’s most popular towns.

What to Love

  • One of America’s most desirable smaller cities
  • Residents of Boulder are some of the happiest and healthiest in the nation
  • Hundreds of opportunities across town for hiking, biking, jogging, and other outdoor recreation
  • A great number of breweries, all offering craft beers of their own creation

Local Lifestyle

Boulder boasts a strong economy, great schools, jaw-dropping scenery, and a lively culinary scene featuring a little bit of everything. Festivals and other events celebrating the arts, local cuisine, and holistic lifestyles are appreciated by all in Boulder. Downtown is a quaint spot for caffeine breaks, craft cocktails, food halls, and Pearl Street, America’s most famous pedestrian mall. More quiet weekends can be spent taking in views of the Rockies in the distance from one of the local parks, many of which feature trails, open spaces, and sporting fields or courts.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Frasca Food and Wine is a legendary restaurant within Boulder known for its hospitality. A James Beard Award-winning establishment, Frasca creates upscale Italian plates paired with top-shelf wine served in a rustic, yet elegant dining room. Featured in countless dining guides, their short ribs, panna cotta, pork loin, and delectable desserts have made Frasca one of the hottest spots in town.

For more casual outings, BlackBelly is a popular destination. Blackbelly offers catering services, event space, and also operates as a full-service restaurant and butcher. The old-fashioned butcher shop offers only the finest cuts of meat and a variety of European grocery imports. The restaurant is a welcoming establishment specializing in popular American cuisine. Colorado wagyu steaks, pulled pork sandwiches, warm soups and stews, and burritos all pair well with a creative offering of colorful craft cocktails.

The Chautauqua Dining Hall has been an iconic part of Boulder since 1898. Perched on a beautiful hillside, the wraparound porch offers scenic views, while the old-fashioned dining room takes patrons back in time. The building may be old and historic, but the cuisine is bright and modern. Bison burgers, steaks, French toast, churro waffles, and afternoon tea are just a few of the selections which will continue to be enjoyed here for years to come.

Guy Fieri proclaimed Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage as “truly remarkable'' when he visited one of Boulder’s best spots for thin-crust pizza and sandwiches. A pizza crust perfected over the course of three days is piled high with fresh cheese, vegetables, and meats and served in generous sizes. The spicy pig, hot honey disco, and classic cheese pizza are some of the more popular creations, along with the extra-cheesy meatball grinder sub.

Things To Do

Denver’s sister community boasts a lively festival scene with residents enjoying busy social calendars. On Memorial Day weekend, the Boulder Creek Festival serves as the local kickoff to summer. Live music, shopping, and a beer fest are a few things to enjoy at this creekside celebration. The Colorado Shakespeare Festival is one of the oldest in the nation, has taken place each year since 1958. Attendees enjoy recreations of some of the most iconic stories under the stars, ensuring these important stories are shown to all generations. Hanuman Festival is another summertime celebration commemorating Boulder’s healthy culture. Yoga, dancing, and music have been celebrated here for over a decade, with the proceeds all going toward a great cause.
